Safeguarding Engineering Education in Times of War:Lessons from Sudan and a Global Call to Action

This webinar will highlight the unprecedented impact of the ongoing war in Sudan on engineering education, with a particular focus on students, young professionals, and faculty whose academic pathways and professional futures have been severely disrupted. Drawing on firsthand experience and institutional data, the session will outline the scale of the crisis, the unique challenges facing engineering disciplines, and the urgent need to protect human capital during conflict. The webinar will also present practical pathways for global engineering leaders, universities, and industry partners to support continuity in engineering education, including academic opportunities, industry engagement, faculty support, and minimum viable infrastructure. The session aims to initiate dialogue and collective action within the global engineering education community.
