Policy Perspectives on Transforming Engineering Education through Innovative Pedagogies and Strategies

Overview:
Engineers play a pivotal role in infrastructure development, innovation, and economic growth. It is therefore critical to invest in developing a strong engineering workforce to drive sustainable development. This session discusses the landscape of transforming engineering education practices, with a focus on innovative pedagogies and strategies to promote the development of engineers and encourage entrepreneurship within the context of sustainability.

This session discusses policy perspectives on:

    • The priority competencies for engineering skills development in the engineering skills career pathway and Global Engineering Competency Taxonomy include:

    • A harmonized approach to developing engineering skills and recognizing educational and mobility requirements

    • Global competencies

    • The use of AI in education

    • Sustainability and culturally relevant pedagogical approaches

    • Rethinking continuing professional development and micro-credentials

    • The art and science of instruction in the modern age.
