In mid-March 2025, Prof. Hans J. Hoyer, Executive Director of IFEES-GEDC, visited Daegu to discuss key preparations for the upcoming WEEF & GEDC 2025 conference. During his visit, the local organizing committee held coordination meetings with him to review ongoing preparations and conducted on-site inspections of the main venue and related facilities. We will continue to work closely with IFEES-GEDC to ensure a well-prepared and meaningful conference in September.
Conference Theme
The 2025 World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) and Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) Annual Conference will be held in Daegu, Republic of Korea, from September 21–25, 2025.
The theme of WEEF & GEDC 2025 is “Engineering Education We Need”, addressing the growing demand for innovative education to meet emerging technologies and societal challenges. This theme is further explored through the following subthemes:
Relevant Continuing Education
Education Innovation Digital Fluency & STEM Skills

In 2007, IFEES members gathered for the first annual IFEES summit in Istanbul, Turkey. The first official World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) was held in 2010 at the National University of Singapore and, in 2012, WEEF became an official trademark.
In 2016, WEEF was held jointly with the annual Global Engineering Deans Council Conference. Both events were held jointly every two years until 2020, when leaders from both organizations decided to hold the two events collaboratively annually. The WEEF-GEDC conferences are among the world’s largest gathering of stakeholders and leaders in engineering education, with representatives from institutions, industry, nonprofits, and governments coming together to promote pedagogy and impact engineering education on a global scale.
