Now Accepting Nominations for 2010-2012 Executive Committee
A Committee has been assembled to organize the nominations for the 2010-2012 IFEES Executive Committee. In accordance with the IFEES Bylaws, five Executive Committee members will be elected in October 2010, at the General Assembly during the IFEES Summit in Singapore. Each nominee will be asked to submit a biography, a statement articulating their motivation to serve, and the contribution they hope to make while on the Executive Committee, and to make a short (2-3 minute) presentation during the General Assembly Meeting in Singapore. The call for nominations will close on 30 June 2010.
Peking University College of Engineering Celebrates Fifth Anniversary; IFEES Secretary General Meets with Chinese Society for Engineering Education
On the 2nd day of May 2010, Peking University celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Engineering College in Beijing, China. IFEES Secretary General, Dr. Hans J. Hoyer, was invited to attend and speak with the audience. Shiyi Chen, dean of the Engineering College, is a member of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC); Peking University will be the host of the 2011 GEDC Conference in Beijing. Dean Chen will be partnering with colleagues from Tsinghua University to make the 2011 Conference a successful one.

While in Beijing, Dr. Hoyer also took the opportunity to meet with Yu Shouwen and Lei Qing, IFEES representatives of the Chinese Society for Engineering Education at Tsinghua University, located just across the street from Peking University. The CSEE has recently worked with Funso Falade, the IFEES Representative of the African Engineering Education Association, bringing over 25 African Colleagues to China for training. These two groups plan to continue growing their partnership in addressing engineering education issues.
BEST General Assembly at Warsaw University
On April 30th, the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) held a General Assembly at Warsaw University. Jose Carlos Quadrado, of the High Institute of Engineering of Lisbon, had the honor to be the keynote speaker at this celebration, the largest European gathering of students in Europe.
