IFEES-SEFI WORKSHOP TO BE HELD 3 JULY 2009 DURING SEFI CONFERENCE

On Friday 3 July 2009, IFEES and SEFI will hold a joint workshop during SEFI's Annual Conference. It will take place from 1-4 July 2009. The workshop will take place in room G1 from 15:30-17:00 and will be moderated by Jose Carlos Quadrado and Anette Kolmos. In addition, IFEES President Lueny Morell will give a keynote address before the workshop from 14:30- 15:00.

IFEES PROGRAM MEETING DRAWS 40+ PARTICIPANTS

On 16 June 2009, IFEES held a Program Meeting during the ASEE Annual Conference in Austin, Texas. The event was attended by 40+ participants.

Presentations during the meeting:

  • Satish Udpa, "Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) update and developing strategy" Presentation (Powerpoint: 74KB)
  • David Delaine, "Reflection about past and future Global Student Forums (GSF) and the role of SPEED" Presentation (PDF: 2.8MB)
  • Maria Larrondo-Petrie and José Carlos Quadrado*, "Update on IFEES Summit's past and future" Presentation (Powerpoint: 392KB)

President-Elect Krishna Vedula welcomed everyone and also discussed the Current strategy of the Indo-US Collaborative for EE (IUCEE). Additionally, Jack Lohmann also discussed "Creating a Culture for Scholarly and Systematic Innovation in EE worldwide". Powerpoint was not used for either of these sessions.

* Maria Larrondo-Petrie and José Carlos Quadrado were also the moderators for the meeting.

ASEE INTERNATIONAL DEPARTMENT HOLDS DIALOGUE MEETINGS WITH KOREAN AND TAIWANESE COLLEAGUES

The ASEE International Department held important dialouge meeting sessions with key Korean and Taiwanese Engineering Education Leaders during the ASEE Annual Conference in Austin, Texas. In addition, the Department also took part in a session of ASEE's Corporate Member Council (CMC) Special Interest Group on International Engineering Education, which discussed the concept of the Global Engineer. SUMMER 2009 PRISM ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS BUDAPEST AND SURROUNDING COUNTRIES

ASEE has released its Summer 2009 Edition Prism. Highlighted within the magazine is an article entitled "Shadows of the Past" by Thomas Grose, which discusses engineering education in Budapest, Hungary, and surrounding Eastern European countries.

GEDC WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN BUDAPEST DURING GLOBAL COLLOQUIUM

The Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) Institute for Deans/Rectors Invites you to Attend its Workshop that will be part of the ASEE Global Colloquium for Engineering Education: "The Influence of Globalization in Engineering Education, Pedagogies and Accreditation" The event will take place at The Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary, on Monday October 12, 2009 from 09:30- 17:30.

Please note The Executive Committee of the GEDC will meet at the Academy from 8 am to 9:20 am just before the workshop and will be by invitation only.

DRAFT CONCEPT PAPER FOR SINGAPORE GLOBAL COLLOQUIUM RELEASED

The draft concept paper for the Global Colloquium in Singapore has become available. The event titled:  World Engineering Education Forum “Effective Collaborations Addressing Common and Global Challenges” will take place 15-24 October 2010.

The World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) is designed to provide a cutting edge and effective platform for communication and collaboration among the world's stakeholders in engineering education, locating itself strategically in a key strategic locale.

CHINA ASSOCIATION FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY TO HOLD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) is sponsoring an International Conference entitled "Integration Interaction Innovation" on 21-22 October, 2009, in Beijing, China. Key individuals for this conference include Professor Yu Shouwen, IFEES Vice President and Founding IFEES President Claudio Borri.
