Miguel Angel Sosa

Miguel Angel SosaMiguel Angel Sosa is the Dean of the Faculty Regional Delta and  Senior Counsellor at the National Technological University in Argentina.

He is also a Senior  Professor of Physics  and Postgraduate Professor at the National Technological University.

He started his professional career at the National Commission of Atomic Energy in the field of nuclear plants, Engineering and Planning and Energy Economy.

He is a member of the Executive Committee at the School of Advanced Studies in Engineering Sciences of the National Technological University.  Furthermore, he participated in Assessment  and Evaluation Councils of Science and Technology and Technological Relations.

He served as the President of the Federal Council of Engineering Deans in Argentina; whereas at present he is the President of the Committee of International and Interinstitutional Relations of this council.

After being the Vice President of the Ibero-American Association of Engineering Education Institutions, he became a member of its Executive Committee and the Coordinator of the Open Lecture in Technological Development and Innovation.

At present he is a member of the Executive Committee of IFEES, and he is a member of the Board of Deans at GDEC LATAM.

He is also the President of the Commission of Argentine Engineering  Teaching, Development, Dissemination and Promotion  at the Argentine Centre of Engineers.

He was selected to be a member of the Consulting Council of  Higher Education of Engineering for the Sustainable Development at the National Education Ministry, and participated in the Organization and Scientific Committees for WEEF 2012 and was the host for GEDC Conference in 2012, in Argentina.

He is a Chemical Engineer, and a Specialist in Environmental Engineering, Energy Economy and Planning; a Specialist in Nuclear Energy Planning for Developing Countries. He extended his studies into Science, Technology and Society;  Epistemology and History of the Sciences.  He also reached a master degree in University Education and he has become a Specialist in University Management and Leadership. He attended various postgraduate seminars related to his profession and education and obtained national and international scholarships in nuclear engineering.

Regarding posgraduate careers  , he conducted diverse research projects as well as technological and service development projects in the area of polution and environmental impact, waste processing, organizational development, engineering education and consulting programmes.

Furthermore, he has mentored certification processes and continuous improvement of engineering careers since the early times in Argentina, and he has served as head of program improvement and accreditation of engineering programs in its Faculty.

He has participated as a member in certification committees of graduate and postgraduate careers; institutional assessment in Science and Technology and student and professor international mobility.  He is also a senior member of National University Committee of Certification and Assessment  in Argentina.

He chaired diverse engineering congresses in Argentina and Latin America and played leading roles in its assessment councils as well as in academic committees in different publications.

Additionally, he joined  management of development agencies, technological parks, sustainable socio-economic programmes of development and strategic development plans in the  region.

He attended numerous congresses and seminars as speaker; developed educational syllabi; wrote books , publications and chapters in books;  directed master degrees  and played leading roles in diverse academic committees.

In the last few years his main interest has been engineering education and its diverse aspects, its articulation with the technological development and the transference of technological knowledge to the  social and production environment in Argentina in a framework of innovation and integration with  Latin America and the world, including the recognition of the activities of technological development and innovation in Faculties of Engineering alternative to scientific publications.
