The goal of training engineers to play an important role in social change, requires strategies that put him in contact with the reality of the territory (with direct recipients and sectors and organizations who work with them). Requires knowledge but also practice, dialogue and interventions with other actors. In this sense, the University extension has the role to integrate other functions (teaching and research) into close relationship with the external environment. The conditions of life of the inhabitants is a matter for society as a whole, but especially for those who are more trained. It is necessary to prepare for this, and in conjunction with other organizations to enhance it. Here is the experience of a Faculty of engineering, which has created an area in order to promote and coordinate actions of social intervention, to the formation of citizens critical of reality and with preparation to transform.
