This paper describes the experiences from the applications of Competency-Based Education (CBE) at the Technical University of Southern Sonora (UTS), Mexico. Are shown the teacher training process design and applications of the methods: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and the case method in some areas of engineering. It describes the experiences from the software applications development for mathematics, the use of MINITAB software for industrial engineering applications, and the use of virtual platforms as technological resources to facilitate the teaching and learning process. It also reports the methods and procedures development which are used to propound and solve exercises in basic science. The experiences show that the implementation of CBE at UTS has helped to improve teaching practices and has motivated teachers to the development and research.
