Calidad en la formación de Ingenieros: Diferencias y similitudes entre un esquema de acreditación nacional y un esquema de acreditación internacional.

This paper is a comparison between two accreditation schemes applied in an Engineering College, which has obtained, for all its programs, national accreditation (being some of the programs in their third cycle) and international accreditation. We present a description of the two schemes and a comparison between them, highlighting their similarities and differences, and the processes required for its implementation; we present the most important results, obtained by the College, at the moment in which the two schemes were implemented, and we concluded by establishing its relation with the improvement of the college’s profiles of the graduate engineers. The paper emphasize, throughout the document, the importance, in the contemporary society, of the accreditation processes in the preparation in higher education levels, particularly for engineers, taking into account the general characteristics of these processes, their objective, focus, method of developing it and their contribution in the assurance of an education with high quality standards.
