The present work approaches the basic competences that have constructed new students in 2012 of two degree courses of engineering (Engineering in Systems and Electromechanical Engineering), of the Facultad Regional Resistencia – Universidad Tencológica Nacional. We understand the competences like an ample set of learnings constructed to give specific answers determined to an academic or labor context. This investigation concentrates in the basic mathematical competences for the University, oriented concretely towards the profile and the professional practice of the engineer. In this opportunity the partial results of the study realised on basic the mathematical competences of 63 ingresantes of both degree courses appear, collections in an examination constructed for such aim by the investigation equipment. The process of harvesting of the information was developed in several stages: Elaboration and Test the instrument in reduced group, Application and focused group interview from the results of the examination. The general results of the realised analysis would be showing a little development of the mathematical competences. These results raise numerous questions respect the impact of the proposal of the Seminary in the construction of mathematical competences.
