2009 IFEES Global Summit, St. Petersburg, Russia May 18-23, 2009

The IFEES Secretariat would like to share the following update for the attendees and guests of the 2009 IFEES Global Summit, St. Petersburg, Russia. We want to emphasize that this is still under development but felt it necessary to provide you with at least some information at this time.

The 2009 IFEES Global Summit will take place on May 19-23, 2009, in St. Petersburg, Russia. Preliminary IFEES Summit program is available here. The International Colloquium, hosted by the Russian Association for Engineering Education (RAEE), will take place on May 20-22. General information regarding this event, registration fees and preliminary program can be found on Colloquium's website: http://ac-raee.ru/colloquium.

Guest and participants should note that Russian visa processing may take longer depending on the type of visa and requirements of the local Russian consulates. IFEES Global Summit attendees are strongly encouraged to contact Russian consulate offices in their respective countries well in advance and find out visa requirements and application processing details. The following are the links to the Russian consulates in several countries:

There are currently two types of visa IFEES Global Summit attendees may consider applying for, business or tourist visa. Business visa invitation letters usually take longer to process, therefore attendees are encouraged to send their passport, institutional affiliation and contact information to the Russian organizers in RAEE at Colloquium@ac-raee.ru by January 15th, 2009.

The other option, tourist visa, can be arranged with the help of hotel Azimut, where majority of attendees will be staying and all IFEES Global Summit events will take place. General information regarding rooms rates, conference space and contact details for hotel's staff can be found at:
http://www.azimuthotels.ru/en/hotels/st_peterburg/about_hotel.

Please note that the tourist agencies at various Russian hotels charge different fees for their services of arranging invitation letters. IFEES Global Summit and Colloquium organizers will strive to make special arrangements for processing invitation letters for attendees staying at the Azimut Hotel. However, communication regarding invitation letters with the hotel staff and visa processing are sole responsibility of the guests and attendees.

Please note that the registration fees for the IFEES Summit and the RAEE Colloquium are still under discussion. We will finalize in late January.
