1 adolescente. 1 computadora. 1 robot

During 2009-2010 the research group on Artificial Intelligence and Network Management (MINA) at the Institute of Computer Science of the Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad de la República de Uruguay, implemented the project “Constructive, programmable and low-cost robotic system for educational purpose- Butiá “. In this context, a simple and affordable robotic platform was created, named Butiá robot. It allowed public high school teachers and students in Uruguay, to program mobile robots behavior. This project integrated research, university contribution to community and educational aspects: designing the Butiá robotic platform, building 27 robots, delivering them to 27 public high schools all over the country, training of engineering college students to extend his functionality -improving the robot- and finally, supporting and training high school teachers and students involved with the project.
