2010 International Research and Education in Engineering Program
The 2010 International Research and Education in Engineering (IREE) Program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and organized by Purdue University, is now accepting applications for the 2010 grant cycle. IREE 2010 awardees will receive a stipend (US$4,000 for graduate students and US$3,000 for undergraduate students) to conduct engineering-related research in China from May - August 2010. GEDC Launches New Website!
The GEDC Secretariat Office is pleased to announce that the official GEDC website (www.gedcouncil.org), home for the global community of deans, has been launched! Executive Secretary of the GEDC, Hans J. Hoyer, gives his deep thanks to colleagues at Michigan State University and especially to Dean Satish Udpa and the Engineering College's IT team. They have been exceptional partners in working with us. Study Abroad Program offered by IFEES member, COPEC
The CIB - Cultural Immersion in Brazil, organized by COPEC - Council of Researches in Education and Sciences, has dedicated the last ten years offering education experiences to many colleges groups from many different countries. China - AEEA Training Program
On November 26, 2009, several members of the African Engineering Education Association (AEEA) traveled to Beijing, China for a 15 course program on transforming from a developing to developed nation. This three week program included a Seminar on Engineering Education and Project Management for African Countries. At the end of the program, Tsinghua University and AEEA signed a joint memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two groups.
IFEES President to Present at Boeing University Relations Meeting
Boeing University Relations will hold an international meeting on January 7 & 8 in Huntington Beach, California on the value of educational societies and associations. Representatives from the UK, Spain, Australia, China, and India will be present. IFEES President, Lueny Morell, will be giving a presentation on the mission and goals of IFEES.
April 2010 IEEE Conference in Dublin
IBM and IEEE invite you to participate in a conference on Transforming Engineering Education: Creating Interdisciplinary Skills for Complex Global Environments on 6-9 April, 2010, in Dublin, Ireland. Interactive program sessions are designed specifically for: workforce development and training executives at technology-driven organizations; deans, department heads and chairs of curriculum committees at university-based engineering programs; government officials with regulatory and/or funding responsibility for higher education; and officials of professional societies and accrediting organizations that serve engineering and related academic disciplines.
A key element of the program will be work groups assigned to develop action recommendations for employers, educators, funding organizations, accrediting agencies and other stakeholders. A series of plenary sessions will also feature prominent executives from key employers including IBM, Dassault Systems, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and SAP, and well as academic thought leaders for the University of Colorado, Drexel University, the University of Illinois and the Indian Institute of Science.
